As college admissions becomes more competitive than ever, students need to start early to stand out. University Startups is launching a new asynchronous course to help students create academic resumes designed to track and share accomplishments, work history, extracurricular activities, and hobbies. The Preparing an Academic Resume course guides them to discover their strengths, explore their interests through extracurricular activities, set long and short-term goals, and build an academic resume to eventually accompany college applications.
The course is aimed at school districts, schools, and nonprofit organizations that want to help students take the first step to establishing a personal brand and reaching desired pathways following high school. With 6 modules requiring 35 minutes each and mini assignments included, the course can be easily delivered fully asynchronously or lightly facilitated in a classroom or online environment. Participating students also receive invites to a virtual Impact Internship Program at University Startups and 24/7 access to an extensive library of online courses for college, career, and entrepreneurship success.
Ideally, Preparing An Academic Resume is offered to freshmen or sophomore students to strategize their extracurricular engagement and build a resume to be modified throughout high school. However, it can also be delivered to upperclassmen preparing for college applications. An academic resume is a great way for students to become more engaged outside the classroom and set themselves apart by allowing others a more in-depth look at who they are.
